Local Consulting Engineer to the Madras Harbour

With more than 20,000 employed on the first go, everyone thought it was prestigious to work for a port. Without knowing that they are digging the own grave for their country. First they discussed to put the port 45 miles north of Madras, but dismissed the idea on the ground of the futility of expecting to divert the trade of an old- established city to a new port. With Estimated cost of Rs. 1,06,20,325 to construct the first phase actually it went 3 times more for the 1st phase alone b’coz of the mistake from an engineering team. Anyways it’s not their money it all ours; keep collecting the taxes from us and keep mistaking the engineering decisions. All the Tax rules were bent and restructured to the take more taxes to coupe the increasing expenses. This mistake the documentation which claims because of the French engineer cost also 1200 lives and 3 missing. Costly Mistake……

Another Interesting fact is that the proposal was submitted on 1660’s for the construction of the port and they kept on discussing discussing and discussing and finally after 100 years they said ok proceed the construction started in 1740’s and completed in 16th January 1869 and Submitted a Document named “Official Paper of Construction of Madras Port” which is only available rarely. It’s actually the same French Engineer who made the mistake made a complete manuscript. It’s actually in three places (Higginbotham’s gov collection; California Some Library and in Internet). Anyway its their official releases don’t worry….

Need the complete document… mail me at gowtham.siddharth@gmail.com

See ya.
